*Only select option 2 in the model menu below if you have a Glock 27 GEN5 Not compatible with the P80 PF940SC (P80 version of Glock 26/27) Glocks are the most popular type of pistol hands in the United States. Glock pistols regularly appear on bestseller lists, equip more than 60% of US law enforcement, and are recommended by many industry experts. When a first-time gun buyer asks for gun recommendations, a typical response is, "get a Glock. When a firearms platform becomes very popular, as it did with the Glock, manufacturers rush to create parts and accessories of third parties for that platform. Not surprisingly, the size of the aftermarket Glock rivals that of a 1911 or AR-15 pistol.
The original Glock pistol, the first generation Glock 17, was designed in the early 1980s to compete in the Austrian Army's pistol experiments.
Glock 26 Is The Best Carry Gun Ever
The Glock 17 went down in the military pistol test as a high performance firearm that allows 17 rounds in the magazine. It had a light frame, mostly made of polymer, a barrel with polygonal rifling (more accurate and easier to hold) and few controls with no manual safety and no decocking mechanism. It had three internal safety devices, including a safety mechanism and a drop trigger. It can be disassembled and reassembled quickly and without tools, with only 34 parts.
The durable and reliable design of the Glock stood out as the winner of the Austrian military pistol tests. This led to its adoption as the P80. Later joint tests by Norway and Sweden showed that the Glock pistol exceeded all NATO durability standards, which led to its adoption by both countries.
In 1986, Glock opened an office in Smyrna, GA. Glock pistols began to be imported the same year and were officially launched in 1988, attracting the attention of both civilian and law enforcement shooters.
In the 1990s, law enforcement across the United States had to replace their old .38 special revolvers with new high-capacity semi-automatic pistols. Glock launched an extensive marketing campaign offering deep discounts and favorable trade-in programs to entice law enforcement agencies to switch to Glock. The plan was a great success; to this day, Glock pistols still make up 60% to 65% of all law enforcement agencies in the United States.
Glock 43 Fail
In the civilian world, Glocks have taken almost all relevant shooting situations by storm. They dethroned the 1911 as the most popular competition platform. Experts often recommend Glocks as ideal for concealed carry and self defense. Glock had even made models of pistols suitable for hunting.
Every single part of a Glock pistol has at least one aftermarket equivalent. The plethora of Glock compatible products can be challenging to navigate, especially for the novice.
Two of the most common complaints about Glock pistols are related to the sights and the trigger. Both the sight and the trigger are important factors for shooting comfort and accuracy.
Other standard Glock upgrades include grip modifications, replacement barrels, magazine extensions, enlarged magazine wells, enlarged control sets, replacement slides, and accessories such as lights, lasers and red dots.

Stock Glock sights are polymer. The sight system consists of a square U-notch rear sight and a single dot front sight. Although these targets are practical, most shooters do not like the thought of plastic targets.
The scope of the Glock stock is not disclosed. If you plan to use a handgun for home defense, you may want to choose night sights instead. Night vision cameras do not require batteries and come in two forms: tritium illumination and fiber optic.
If you want to install a red dot sight (RDS) on your Glock pistol, you will need to modify your existing slide or purchase a special pre-cut slide. RDS compatible slides have slots and thread to install the mount and RDS.
Glock hit the civilian market with the Gen 5 MOS models. However third party vendors have been creating RDS slides for decades. The RDS slides are compatible with the most popular handgun and micro-red dots, such as the Trijicon RMR or Leupold DeltaPoint.

Many slides include cuts for barrels that are shaped or ported, surface cuts, and lightning bolts. Some models have a very stylish design, which significantly changes the appearance of your firearm.
The Glock's trigger is also best described as active, providing adequate pull weight for a pistol. It's not overly heavy, but has a fair amount of pickup and a noticeable amount of travel after a break.
A common complaint is the shape of the Glock trigger shoe. Glock triggers are well known for their trigger-mounted safety levers (affectionately nicknamed "dingus"), which some shooters may find distracting or uncomfortable. Many aftermarket trigger shoes for Glocks have different shapes, some with lower or differently shaped safety bars.
Another type of trigger upgrade for a Glock is one that changes the trigger pull weight. Stock triggers use a 5.5 lb connector, which requires between 6 and 7 lbs. of force to pull completely. The exact amount varies depending on the make and age of the gun. Replacing the binding with a lighter model can reduce that pull weight. Many ignition kits also come with their connectors.
Glock 23: Why It Should Be Your New Carry Gun
The Glock barrel stock varies by generation. Generation 1-4 barrels use polygonal rifling; instead of lands and grooves, these barrels use less noticeable "hills and valleys", which give the ball spin as it travels.
The Generation 5 Barrels, known as Glock Marksman Barrels, use a hybrid of polygonal and traditional land and groove rifling with a matching crown, which only increases accuracy at longer distances. Gen 5 barrels are not interchangeable with Gen 1-4 barrels due to differences in external dimensions.
If you want to install muzzle accessories to your Glock, such as a suppressor, muzzle brake, or compensator, you will need a threaded barrel. The Glock screw barrels are slightly elongated barrels with a length of screw thread at the business end, which allows the user to screw in the accessory of his choice.
Special gun barrels are carried: they are holes drilled with precision, which release some of the gases that come out of the cartridge upwards. The force created by these exhaust gases pushes the barrel down, preventing the muzzle from flipping and helping the shooter stay on target.

Firing jacketed lead bullets through Glock barrels of any generation is not recommended. According to Glock, this can lead to a significant accumulation of dirt, which can cause battery drains and potentially catastrophic failures. Individual aftermarket manufacturers offer barrels with traditional rifling to address this concern.
If you have a Gen 3 or Gen 4 Glock, the gun frame has finger grooves. Shooters with small hands will find the grooves ill-fitting and awkward, preventing them from getting a secure grip on the gun. Unfortunately, this often means less accuracy.
An inexpensive grip modification is grip tape: an ergonomic textured adhesive designed to wrap around the frame of your gun, partially filling the slots and providing a gripping surface.
More expensive modifications include services that directly change the frame of a gun. Stippling is the grippier etching process that adds a more aggressive texture to the frame and eliminates the need for grip tape. Some gunsmiths offer deburring services with finger grooves, smoothing and refinishing the grip all in the process.
